General Information
The offset printing is a division of flat printing. With this technology the ink of the printed form is transferred to a rubber padding with pressure, and from it - to a paper or other materials. This type of printing is one of the most widespread qualitative in regards of color printing images in which the colors are produced by depositing of several primary colors. The most popular ones are the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) however some additional specialized inks (pantone) are used as well.
This is a primary printing method of a large part of the polygraphical production. A full spectrum of colored flyers, circulars, business cards, labels, calendars, stickers, brochures, folded pamphlets, books, magazines, placards invitations and other kinds of advertising materials are printed on offset printing equipment.
The technology of offset printing was used in the USA in 1905 and during that time the first printing machine was created. The beginning of the offset printing technology, based on the modern polygraphy, was initiated in 1930 in Germany.
We can conclude in general that the offset printing is the only kind of printing free of limitations, and capable of recreating any exact project on paper.
Digital printing is associated with the advent of computers in the late 20th century and the development of peripherals such as printers to them. If it does not require an intermediate transfer plate, and print directly from your computer onto the paper. Used for short runs and enables fast and quality production of single copies at home or office, and printing of texts with varying sections - such as direct mail or advertising to multiple destinations - something that is too expensive and laborious for offset printing.
